Antonia Kaltsatou

I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Exercise Physiology, specializing in cardiac rehabilitation and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, with extensive research experience in human and environmental physiology. My research focuses on impactful studies examining the effects of exercise training on balance, functional capacity, and quality of life across diverse populations, including individuals with schizophrenia and breast cancer survivors, prioritizing evidence-based interventions for enhanced patient outcomes. My postdoctoral experience at the University of Thessaly and my role as a senior researcher at the FAME Lab have significantly advanced my expertise, especially regarding thermoregulation and health in the context of climate change. Through a fellowship from the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, I collaborated with the Greek Multiple Sclerosis Society to develop multidisciplinary rehabilitation programs incorporating Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), promoting healthier lifestyles and improved quality of life. My teaching philosophy integrates interactive lectures, seminars, tutorials, problem-based and research-led approaches, diverse assessments, and inclusive, blended learning methods. Currently, I am exploring innovative cooling strategies aimed at improving performance and well-being in athletes and individuals with chronic diseases.
